Line Dancer Stretches
Stretching is not always incorporated into line dance classes and we think this is problem that needs to be addressed! I asked Lea Wiens (line dancer and exercise physiologist) to work with me to put together a routine that specifically targets muscles that tend to get overworked in line dance classes. Not only does it feel GREAT while you're doing it, it helps to reduce muscle stiffness the next day.
My goal as an instructor is to feel comfortable leading stretch breaks and a cooldown routine at the end of class. I hope other instructors will feel welcome to access this video and use it to lead stretch breaks in their classes as well. And of course, all dancers are invited to work through this video on your own as often as needed. My hope is that we all get better at recognizing when we need to stretch and just do it.
